About this place
Placing thick-cut meats on the grill and waiting for them to sizzle to completion is one of the distinct pleasures of a local yakiniku parlor. Located in Komatsugawa, Edogawa Ward, Chojuen is a down-to-earth restaurant where diners can settle in for a leisurely, unpretentious meal.
The menu features staples like kalbi short ribs, loin, and salted beef tongue, alongside premium cuts such as jo-kalbi, jo-loin, and jo-harami skirt steak. Sliced thick enough to offer genuine chew, the kalbi avoids being cloyingly fatty, pairing naturally with rice and drinks. Meat lovers will also find a diverse range of offal, including first stomach (jo-mino), beef intestines, liver, honeycomb tripe (yan), and mixed offal platters, along with pork belly, pork jowl seasoned with salt or seasoned miso sauce, and grilled pig trotters.
Side dishes provide refreshing interludes between grilled bites, from a kimchi platter of napa cabbage, cucumber, and cubed daikon radish to namul vegetables and seasoned sanchu lettuce. For the finish, diners can choose from stone-pot bibimbap, spicy yukgaejang-style tegutang, kalbi kuppa soup rice, comforting egg or seaweed soups, and kimchi jjigae hot pot.
Beverages include draft and bottled beer, sours, makgeolli, and Chamisul soju, creating a comfortable environment for groups and families gathering around the grill for dinner.
